Fly Fishing | Light Tackle Charter Service

Fishing with LTF Guides isn’t about checking a box; it’s about fishing the water most people never see. From technical sight‑fishing on the Texas Coast to wilderness float trips in Western Colorado, every day on the boat is built around improving our skills, challenging our ability, and fishing how the water dictates.

Whether we’re hunting tailing reds in skinny marsh lakes, drifting big Western rivers for wild trout, or running tarpon in Panama, the goal is simple: help you fish better, understand the water, and have a good time doing it.

Where We Fish

Technical Sight Fishing on the Upper Texas Coast

Upper Texas Coast - Technical Sight Fishing

Step up on the bow of our Sabine Skiff and keep your eyes peeled for tailing, mudding, and crawling red fish. These fish navigate the skinny water of back marshes looking for shrimp, crabs, and bait fish.
You and your guide, who’s poling the boat from an elevated platform, will stealthily stalk these marsh predators with fly or light tackle. When a fish comes into range, you’ll make a cast right in front of a hungry red and get a front row seat to watch just how aggressive these red fish are.
Sight fishing is some of the most challenging but most rewarding fishing there is.
Gunnison Gorge Fly Fishing

Western Colorado - Wilderness Float Trips

No cell phone service. No crowds. Three days of floating through some of the countries last pristine wilderness areas in search of trophy rainbow and brown trout. This wilderness canyon is home to one of the best western hatches there is: salmon flies. People travel from all over the world to get a chance to fish big dry flies to big trout.
After a long day on the river, kick back at your riverside camp and enjoy a delicious meal cooked by your guides. Relax and tell fish stories from the day or grab your fly rod and do some more fishing before the sun goes down.
Fly Fishing Lake Gatun Panama

Panama - Drift Boat Tarpon

Float down a jungle river, with howler monkeys above and true mystery below. These rivers are home to tarpon, machaca, and snook. Every cast could be the one where you hook into a 50lb tarpon.
This is the first all-inclusive tarpon fly-fishing lodge in the world to run drift boats for these fish. This program takes everything you love about western-style streamer fishing — the boats, the angles, the shots — and drops it into a tropical river system loaded with tarpon, snook, and machaca.

The trip was absolutely stellar. So many fish seen. So many fish caught. Nick was a great coach to the process. All day action. I’ll be honest! It got to a point for me that I was tired of catching fish. My arm hurt. Moral of the story. This day was the best day of redfish on the fly that I have ever had in my life so far. Great person and guide to have

Nick was my primary guide through the Black Canyon trip we completed yesterday. All four guides were fabulous but Nick stood out. His knowledge of the water, decision making on the larger rapids, willingness to change flies on a moment’s notice if the conditions called for it, and specific coaching on exactly where to drop my fly were thorough and welcome. The Black Canyon is a special stretch of water, and Nick made my experience unforgettable.

Booked four days of fishing with Nick, every day was a new adventure. Each day was different with the weather, creating its own difficulties. That didn’t keep Nick from showing us a good time and putting us on fish consistently every day. 10 out of 10 would recommend and we’ll be back next year for another four days thanks, Nick.

I'm lucky enough to be guided by lots of guides every year, and Nick is one of my favorites to fish with. He works hard, goes the extra mile when it's needed, and is a pleasure to be with in a boat. His enthusiasm while maintaining a calm demeanor is what I like in a fishing guide, in both salt and fresh water. And we catch lots of fish too!
