Fly fishing the Texas coast for redfish is all about shallow‑water sight‑fishing, big visual eats, and an incredibly consistent fall fishery. Redfish cruise the bays, marshes, and turtle‑grass flats in shin‑deep water, feeding on crabs, shrimp, and baitfish, which makes them perfect targets for a fly rod. You’re hunting fish you can see—tailing, pushing wakes, or sliding across sand pockets—and watching them track and inhale a well‑placed fly is the whole thrill.
Our Season
We guide the Galveston Bay Complex starting in October and run through early January. This is prime season for Redfish on the upper Texas Coast. As fall approaches, the weather begins to cool down, giving the fish who dwell in these waters a much-needed reprieve from the brutal Texas heat. The redfish love cruising the shallow water estuaries foraging on shrimp, crab, and small bait fish.
